METAPAD connects independent mystery shoppers with paid shops. You visit a location as an ordinary customer, tell us honestly what the experience was like, and get paid for your time.
What is mystery shopping?
Mystery shopping is a simple idea. Businesses want to know what it is really like to be their customer, and the best way to find out is to ask a real person to visit and report back. A mystery shopper picks a shop, follows the instructions, shops or dines like any other customer, and then completes a short report with answers, photos and a receipt.
The results help businesses recognize great service, fix the things that frustrate customers, and keep standards consistent from one visit to the next. Shops can cover retail stores, restaurants, hotels, fitness clubs and many other customer-facing places.
How METAPAD works
- Create your account. Sign up for free, confirm your email, and add your payment details.
- Apply for shops. Browse open shops near you. The pay, any reimbursement and the deadline are shown before you apply.
- Complete the visit and report. Follow the instructions, keep your receipt, and send your report from your phone.
- Get paid. Once your report is reviewed and approved, your payment is sent to you.

- Free to join. Shoppers never pay to sign up, to receive a shop or to get paid.
- Honest reporting. Our reports are only useful when they are accurate. We ask shoppers to report what really happened, good or bad.
- Respect for everyone. Shoppers, staff and customers are all people. Visits are done politely, safely and lawfully.
- Real people on our side. Every report is reviewed by our team, and you receive feedback when something needs fixing.
- Protecting your information. We collect only what we need to run the service and we explain how we use it in our Privacy Policy.
Who can be a shopper?
Anyone who is at least 18 years old, can follow written instructions, is comfortable using a phone to answer questions and upload photos, and is happy to give an honest account of what they experienced. No previous experience is needed. Some shops ask for a specific location, language or availability, and those requirements are listed on the shop.
