Terms of Service
Last updated: September 24, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and METAPAD ("METAPAD", "we", "us"). They apply to your use of our website and services. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Shopper Agreement and our Payments and Purchase Funds Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
METAPAD is an online platform that connects independent mystery shoppers with shops. Shoppers apply for shops, visit locations as ordinary customers, submit reports and are paid for approved work. We provide the tools and the review process. We do not guarantee that any shop will be available at any time or in any place.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the service. You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date. You may only hold one account.
3. Your account
- You must confirm your email address before you can log in.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has accessed it.
- You may not sell, share, rent or transfer your account to anyone else.
- You can ask us to close your account at any time by contacting us.
4. Applying for and completing shops
Applying for a shop does not guarantee you will receive it. We choose shoppers based on the requirements of each shop, and only one shopper is normally assigned to a visit. When you are approved, you agree to complete the visit and submit your report by the deadline shown, and to follow the instructions for that shop. If you cannot complete a shop, tell us as early as possible. Additional rules for shoppers are set out in the Shopper Agreement.
5. Reports and content you submit
- Everything you submit, including answers, photos, receipts and messages, must be true, accurate and your own work.
- You promise that you have the right to submit it and that it does not break any law or anyone's rights.
- You keep ownership of your content, but you give us, and the business the shop is for, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, copy, store, display and adapt your reports and their contents for the purposes of the shop, quality assurance, training and our business records. Ownership of the report itself is addressed in the Shopper Agreement.
- You must not photograph or record people without their consent, or include personal information about others, unless the shop instructions expressly require it and the law allows it.
6. Payments
Fees, reimbursements and any purchase funds are described on each shop and in our Payments and Purchase Funds Policy. We only pay for work that has been completed according to the instructions and approved by our team. Joining METAPAD is free. We will never ask you to pay a fee to receive a shop or to send money back to us or to anyone else.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, copied or fabricated reports, photos or receipts;
- create more than one account, or use another person's identity or details;
- use the service for anything unlawful, harassing, discriminatory or harmful;
- interfere with the website, attempt to gain unauthorized access, test its security without our written permission, or overload it;
- use bots, scrapers or automated tools to access the service;
- copy, sell or share shop details, our materials or other shoppers' information outside the service; or
- mislead our team or a business about who you are or what you did.
8. Confidentiality and intellectual property
Shop details are confidential. You must not share them with anyone except as needed to complete the shop. The METAPAD name, logo, website, software, text and design belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. You may not copy or reuse our materials without written permission.
9. Suspension and ending your account
We may suspend or close your account, cancel shops, or withhold payment for work that breaks these Terms, the Shopper Agreement or the law, including where we reasonably suspect fraud, fabricated reports or misuse of purchase funds. We will normally tell you why. You may stop using the service and ask us to close your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends, such as those on content, confidentiality, liability and governing law, will remain in effect.
10. Availability and changes to the service
We work hard to keep the website available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the service, and we may update shops or requirements, at any time.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not give any warranties, express or implied, including about the availability of shops, earnings, or that the service will meet your particular needs. Nothing in these Terms excludes any right you have under mandatory law that cannot be excluded.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, METAPAD and its owners, staff and partners are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, opportunity or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service will not exceed the amount you were owed or paid by us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You are responsible for your own safety when you visit a location. Use good judgment, follow local laws, and leave any situation that feels unsafe.
13. Indemnity
You agree to compensate us for losses, claims and costs that result from your breach of these Terms or the law, or from content you submit that infringes someone's rights, to the extent permitted by law.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make an important change, we will notify you by email or with a notice on the website, and update the date above. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you may close your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where METAPAD is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them will be handled by the competent courts of that place, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have in your country of residence.
Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us and give us a chance to resolve the problem informally.
16. General
- These Terms, together with the documents they mention, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.
- If any part is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we give it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a business change.
